Tipping isn't expected in Greece, but it's always appreciated. A euro or two per person at a cafe or bar is generous, and around 10% at restaurants is customary. If you're tipping on a card, let your server know the total (including tip) before they run the charge — Greek card machines usually don't have a separate tip prompt once the payment goes through.

You'll notice graffiti pretty much everywhere in Athens, which can be surprising at first. It's not a sign of crime like it might be back home — Athens has a long-standing street art culture, and entire neighborhoods are known for their large-scale murals from respected local and international artists. Locals see it as part of the city's character, not a warning sign.

Is there WiFi at the resort?

Greece uses the Euro. You'll get the best exchange rate using your credit card (select euro payment when prompted), and withdraw cash from ATMs as needed — avoid exchanging money at the airport, and steer clear of Euronet ATMs specifically (look for a blue diamond logo), as they consistently have the worst rates and fees.

What currency is used, and how should I handle money while I'm there?

What is the dress code for the wedding events?

Hot! Expect highs around 93°F (34°C) and lows around 77°F (25°C) — the sun is strong, so come prepared. There's usually a nice breeze off the water in the evenings, so a light layer isn't a bad idea for after dark.

What is the weather like in Greece in late July/early August?

There are some stairs at the venue and restrooms are down a set of stairs. There is an accessible restroom in the venue as well.

What's the venue's accessibility like?

Please check your invitation — it will indicate whether it includes a plus-one.

Can I bring a guest?

While we adore your little ones, we've decided to keep our wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday an adults-only celebration (with a few exceptions for immediate family) — we hope this gives everyone a chance to truly relax and enjoy the night. Our welcome drinks on Friday, however, are open to guests of all ages, including anyone joining us to help watch the kids that evening.

We'd love for you to be fully present with us during the ceremony, so we ask that you keep phones and cameras away during that time — our photographer will be capturing every moment, and we promise to share plenty of photos with you after. Once the ceremony wraps, feel free to snap away! 

Is the wedding unplugged?

We'll provide transportation to and from the wedding venue and our other wedding events throughout the weekend. Getting from the airport to the resort will be on you — see our Travel page for our recommended options.

Will transportation be provided?

Greece uses the European-style plugs (Type C/F) and 230V — different from the US, so bring an adapter, or pick one up once you land (at Public in the center of Athens)

What's the electrical outlet situation?

US citizens don't need a visa for short stays in Greece. Just double check your passport is valid for at least 3 months past your departure date, with at least one blank page (two is safer) for an entry stamp. Note: this is subject to change as the European Entry / Exit System rolls out. 

Do I need a visa, and is my passport okay?

It's worth considering, especially given the cost of the trip. Travel insurance can cover cancellations, delays, medical needs, and lost luggage if something comes up last-minute. We've had good experience with providers like World Nomads (more comprehensive) and Safety Wing (more affordable, covers less) — this guide is a helpful place to compare options.

Do I need a TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Your presence at our wedding is truly the only present we need — we understand that traveling all this way for us is already a big ask, and we wouldn't dream of asking for more. Do you have a gift registry?

Yes, tap water in the Athens area is drinkable. Still, with the summer heat, we'd encourage you to stay hydrated — kiosks are everywhere, and by Greek law they can't charge more than a couple euros for a large bottle or 50c for 500ml (as long as the water is from a Greek source).

Is the tap water safe to drink?

Will there be time to rest during the day?

We hope so! The art of Greek siesta. Greek summers are hot, and many places slow down or close between roughly 1pm and 6pm. We'd encourage you to take that time to nap, whether at the resort or by the beach — it's a bit of a Greek tradition, and it'll help you enjoy the evenings even more.
