Flights
- We recommend the app Welcome Pickups — you can pre-book an Englishspeaking driver before you even land, so they're waiting for you at arrivals. It's a great alternative to hailing a taxi, since language can sometimes be a barrier for international travelers.
- Uber also works well in Greece and is a reliable option from the airport. Uber will call the local taxis at the correct rate quoted on screen.
- Our travel agency, Greeking.me, may be able to help arrange a transfer as well — feel free to reach out to them directly if you'd like assistance booking one.
- When booking your hotel room at the resort, you can inquire about transfers provided by the hotel as well.
The closest airport is Athens International Airport (ATH), about 20–25 minutes from Grand Resort Lagonissi (our home base for the wedding weekend).
ATH has many direct flights from the East Coast of the U.S. during the summer, making the trip pretty easy. We recommend booking your flights as early as you can — airlines typically open bookings about 11 months out, and prices for peak season tend to climb the closer we get to the date.
WHERE TO STAY
We're running the block through Monday on purpose — our wedding day goes until 2am, and we didn't want anyone to feel rushed to pack up and check out the next morning! This gives everyone a relaxed Sunday to recover, soak up the resort, and ease back into normal life at your own pace. It's also the perfect excuse to extend your trip and explore more of Greece afterward — we'd love for you to make a proper vacation out of it if you can.
We also know some of you — in-laws, close friends, extended family — may be coming to Athens alongside the wedding to help watch kids, or to turn this into a family trip of your own. If that's you, you're absolutely invited to join us for welcome drinks on Friday — George and Kevin know most of you, and we'd love to have you there! Feel free to use our room block for your stay as well.
AIRBNB & OTHER OPTIONS
We've reserved a room block at Grand Resort Lagonissi, a Leading Hotels of the World property on its own private peninsula on the Athens Riviera, for our wedding weekend.
WEDDING PARTY: please plan to arrive by Wednesday, July 28 (5-night minimum stay)
ALL OTHER GUESTS: please plan to arrive by Thursday evening, July 29 (4-night minimum stay)
Stays run through Monday, August 2, 2027
TO BOOK
If you'd prefer to book an Airbnb or other accommodation in the area, there are some beautiful options along the coast near the resort.
A few things to keep in mind if you go this route:
Transportation for wedding events will depart from Grand Resort Lagonissi. We're not able to arrange or provide transportation to/from off-site accommodations, so please plan your own transport to the resort for each event.
We'd still recommend staying as close to Lagonissi as possible to make getting to and from events easier.

Athens is one of my favorite cities, and it's often overlooked by people rushing off to more popular destinations like Santorini or Mykonos. Don't believe anyone who tells you that you can tack it on as a one- or two-day trip and see everything — Athens has a long and storied history, having survived countless human epochs, and the modern city is just as vibrant today as it was in the time of Pericles. The food scene is incredible, the nightlife is hard to match, the beaches near the city center are pristine, and the public transit is world class.
